SHERLOCK HOLMES LONDON ITINERARY - DAY 1

Holmes study at City Museum & Records Office

Morning

The Sherlock Holmes Museum (www.sherlock-holmes.co.uk/)
Baker Street
Nearest tube stop: Baker Street station

As featured in the movie

As soon as you come out of Baker Street station you'll see the famous Sherlock Holmes statue, which stands over 9 feet tall. This is a landmark in itself and there's only one other statue in London of a fictitious character, that of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens.

Head to 221b Baker Street where you'll find the Sherlock Holmes Museum. In the original books, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John H. Watson lived at 221B Baker St between 1881-1904.

Today you can get a glimpse inside the world of our hero including the 1st floor study overlooking Baker Street, which is still faithfully maintained as it was kept in Victorian Times. Sherlock or Watson are on hand daily for questions and photos.
Cafe in the Crypt

Lunch

Café-in-the-Crypt (www2.stmartin-in-the-fields.org/page/cafe/crypt/crypt.html)
Trafalgar Square
Nearest tube stop: Charing Cross station

Keeping in the spooky, mysterious theme, why not stop for lunch at St Martin-in-the-Fields church and art venue, which has a café in its 18th-century crypt. The crypt features brick-vaulted ceilings, pillars and gravestones for a dramatic lunch setting – and prices are reasonable too!
Brompton Cemetry

Afternoon

Brompton Cemetery (www.royalparks.org.uk/parks/brompton_cemetery)
Chelsea
Nearest tube stop: West Brompton station

As featured in the movie

Stop by this atmospheric and peaceful cemetery used as a shooting location in the new Sherlock Holmes movie. Located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Brompton Cemetery is one of the finest Victorian Metropolitan cemeteries in Britain.

It has a formal layout with a central avenue which leads to a chapel based on St Peter's Basilica in Rome. Amongst its shady walks you'll find over 35,000 monuments - many of historical importance, as well as a rich variety of wildlife.
The Punch Bowl, Mayfair, London

Dinner

The Punch Bowl (maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&hs=sYu&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=The+Punch+Bowl+mayfair&near=London&fb=1&split=1&gl=uk&view=text&latlng=14614447873623035542)
Mayfair
Nearest tube stop: Green Park station

Famously owned by the former Mr Madonna, Guy Ritchie, this charming little pub has a cosy countryside feel to it. Built in the 1750s, it is the second oldest pub in Mayfair. The blackened fireplaces and 18th-century portraits on the walls of political figures indicate of the pub's long heritage.

They serve traditional dishes such as sausages and mash or the Aberdeen Angus burger as well as healthy alternatives. And thanks to its famous owner, it's a great place for celebrity; even Robert De Niro has enjoyed a pint here.
